Kids can have group or one-on-one chats with approved contacts with age-appropriate GIFs, emojis, frames, interactive masks, Facebook reactions, and more. No new contacts can be added without the parents’ approval. The app has enhanced parental controls which let parents place limits on messages and video calls to approved family and friends. It works via Wi-Fi so no phone number is linked to it as well. Facebook doesn’t serve any ads in Messenger Kids. This doesn’t create a Facebook account for them and their name is also not publicly searchable. The Messenger Kids account only requires the child’s first and last name. However, the parent needs to configure the app with their own Facebook account because without that they can’t set up the child’s Messenger Kids account. They don’t need a Facebook account at all to use Messenger Kids. The good thing about this app is that kids don’t have sign up for a Facebook account in order to use this app. The Facebook Messenger Kids app is now available on Amazon Fire tablets. It’s a standalone child-friendly version of the popular Messenger app that has enhanced parental controls which enable parents to supervise their kids’ use of the app. As the name suggests, it’s an iteration of the popular cross-platform messaging app that’s aimed at kids. Facebook Messenger Kids was launched in December last year.
